ABOUT ME

BEHIND THE LENS AND BRUSH

My art works throughout the years have included folk art, specialty furniture finishes, faux finishes, decorative painting and trompe l’oeil murals. I developed an ability to create textures and finishes with multiple colors and multiple translucent layers of color.  I taught these art forms and finishes for many years in Calgary and Black Diamond, Alberta under the trade name Paint-a-tions. .

In 2011 and 2012  I travelled throughout Indonesia and Malaysia and developed a love for batik. Batik is a technique using many layers of wax and dye on silk or cotton.

I love the wax medium and have tried many different styles of work with it from encaustic and cold wax to batik.  I'm now creating mostly Rice Paper Batiks, and Fabric Batiks, and have a studio set up to teach others the wonderful world of Batik. (Studio on hiatus for the duration of the covid thing )

I love the different ways to create, different outcomes, different satisfactions.  Many years of experimentation and exploration of various materials and techniques have resulted in a body of work of which I am especially proud.

So many art forms, so little time.

Thank You for viewing.
